Offerings for Organizations

Even with the most articulate values, organizational strategies, and a dynamic team, organizations can still (un)intentionally reenact the very systems their mission and values seek to transform.

Where organizations get stuck

Our intention is not to prevent tense moments, but to prepare for them.

Organizations are shaped by the ways people learn to relate to power, conflict, and care.

Even with the best intentions and carefully articulated values, groups can find themselves living in the contradiction between what they believe and what they practice.

“You have to act as if it were possible to

radically transform the world.

And you have to do it all the time.”

- Angela Davis

What We Offer

We partner with nonprofits, advocacy organizations, grassroots groups, and mission-driven institutions seeking to strengthen relationships, align organizational practices with shared values, and build more aligned work cultures.

Our methodology is heavily qualitative: we engage in individual interviews, group conversations, document/policy review, observation, mapping, synthesis, and recommendations.

For groups that are trying to answer:

What is happening here, and how is the organization producing it?

Organizations often know that something is wrong before they can articulate what is producing it. Organizational assessment looks at the relationships between culture, structure, power, decision-making, policy, and practice to understand how an organization is functioning and where it is becoming misaligned with its stated values.

This work is particularly useful for organizations experiencing leadership tension, turnover, team conflict, questions about racial or other forms of equity, or a growing gap between organizational values and everyday practice.

Organizational Assessment

Leadership & Team Support

For groups that are trying to answer:

How can the people responsible for leading this organization practice power differently?

Leadership happens inside relationships of power. We support leaders and teams in examining how authority, conflict, communication, accountability, and decision-making operate within their work, while developing practices that are more sustainable and aligned with their stated values.

This is not about teaching leaders how to perform “perfect” management. It is about helping people understand the power they hold, the patterns they bring into relationships, and the conditions they are creating for others.

Facilitation & Popular Education

For groups that are trying to answer:

How do we work through something together in a more aligned way?

Workshops & Training Development

Some organizational work needs a container before it needs a solution. We facilitate the conversations, learning spaces, and collective processes that help people navigate conflict, build shared understanding, and move toward action.

Organizational Change & Design

For groups that are trying to answer:

What needs to change, and how do we build it?

Sometimes an organization can identify a problem but cannot solve it without changing the structures that produce it. We support organizations in examining and redesigning structures, decision-making processes, programs, roles, and practices when the way an organization is built is no longer supporting the work it is trying to do.

A stated value is only as meaningful as the conditions that make it possible to practice. An organization may value consent, for example, but if people cannot safely disagree with those who hold authority, consent is not actually structuring the relationship. Our work asks what would need to change for the organization's values to become materially possible.

People reproduce the worlds they have learned to survive.

Our work is grounded in a particular understanding of how organizations change.

People reproduce the worlds they have learned to survive.

Organizations are no different.

Every policy, meeting, conflict, decision, and relationship is shaped by the experiences, histories, and learned patterns that people bring into their work.

Rather than treating burnout, conflict, or misalignment as isolated problems, we work alongside organizations to understand the systems that produce them and develop practices that support more aligned ways of relating.

What Working Together Looks Like

We approach our work through Paolo Freire’s Popular Education spiral, which looks at learning, reflection, practice, and change as a recursive process. We begin with what people know and have experienced, make sense of the patterns and relationships emerging from that experience, create space for new knowledge and possibilities, and then practice putting those possibilities into action.

Some engagements move through one turn of the spiral. Others stay with the process over time. The depth, pace, and form of the work depend on what the organization is trying to understand, change, and practice.

Every organization is different.
